The U-19's trip to the National Finals in Chicago started off rough with a 5-3 first game loss to Cape Cod. From there the team rebounded with wins over Ottowa and Seacoast in the preliminary rounds and a 2-0 win over MidAtlantic rival Northern Virginia Majestics in the semi-final. The win over Northern Virginia placed the team one win away from the National title with a rematch against Cape Cod.
Unfortunately for the team Cape Cod scored two first half goals after the 19's were unable to covert on some early chances. Second half saw the team pressing up to try to even the score which they were unable to do. Final score was 4-0 Cape Cod.
Congrats to all members of the team that contributed during the year. Players that attended Nationals were: Kellen Kroll, Robin Gerber, Nikki Hauck, Stephanie Zalewski, Alli Foley, Maggie Porges, Clare Gallagher, Caitlyn Nazerchuck, Emily Zemanek, Kendall Isla, Emily McNeill, Marissa Stock, Tara Riccardi, Jess Carnevale, and Jessica Bitsak.
In keeping with our stated purpose of development, the 19's during the course of the year utilized players from several age groups withing the club including the current 18's (Elektrons), 17's (Hurricanes) and 16's (Mischief). Great group effort got the team to Chicago and almost allowed us to come home with the club's second National Title in two years.
