3.       What are the goals of the club for the 2009-2010 season?

a.       Our goal for this season is to create an environment where children can continue to learn and enjoy the game.  Our goal is to see new players join the sport and retain as many existing players as possible.  This means providing opportunities to all children to play a level commensurate with their ability while making the game fun and enjoyable.  We are also focused on improving communication and transparency within the club so everyone has an understanding of the opportunities for their children as well as information on the goals and processes within the club.

1.       What is the Pride tournament?

a.       The Pride Tournament is a travel tournament that the Parsippany Soccer Club runs as the clubs primary fund raiser.  The tournament is for travel teams from U8 to U14.  In 2008, we hosted 415 teams from New York, New Jersey, Conn, Pa and Maryland.  The tournament is run every Columbus Day Weekend.

a.       Revenue from the Pride tournament currently makes up over 55% of the club’s annual budgeted revenues.  The money from the Pride is used for general operating funds which are used to pay for intramural uniforms, referee fees and facility costs.  Increased revenue from the Pride Tournament over the last few years has allowed us to keep our registration costs flat since 2003

b.      We also take funds raised in excess of our budgeted amount for the general operating fund and apply them to the Pride Contingency fund and the Equity Field fund.

i.      The Pride Contingency fund is a contingency fund to be used in case the tournament needs to be canceled.

ii.      The Equity Field Fund is a fund that was established to save for making a major purchase or capital improvement in a field or fields.  We currently have saved over $150,000 and are investigating a number of different options for this money.  Options being considered are looking to acquire additional field space, or improvements existing fields and facilities.  In 2009, funds from the equity field fund were used to purchase new World Cup quality goals for Reynolds field.

What does the club do for the community?

-          The club believes it is very important to give back to the community and to those who support the club.  We do this in a number of ways for example the Pride tournament brings in hundreds of teams from out of town.  We encourage these teams to stay in Parsippany Hotels that support the club and to patronize restaurants and business that sponsor our club.

-          The club also donates equipment on a regular basis to the Board of Education and the Township to ensure that our children are playing with quality and safe equipment.  In 2009, the club donated new goals to Brooklawn Middle School and Rockaway Meadow Elemenatry as well as new goals at Veterans and Jannarone.

-          Finally, the club offers 6 $1000 scholarships on an annual basis to graduating high school seniors who have been active participants in the club.
